I’ve loved having a smaller, more curated closet since we downsized and moved. A few weeks ago I participated in The Collective Market Minneapolis (there’ll be another one in the spring), and took an additional 60 items out of my closet and sold them at the sale. That moved out a lot of older fall/winter pieces that I wasn’t so crazy about, or didn’t fit the best, and allowed me to make room for a few new pieces. Below are a few of the items I’ve added to my closet for the colder weather.
To help you with selecting styles and sizes I’m providing my size profile and have listed the sizes I ordered for each item.
Size Profile: Height – 5″2 and my measurements are 32″ (bust), 25″ (waist) and 37″ (hips). My inseam is 29″.
RECENTLY ADDED TO MY CLOSET –
J.Crew City Coat in Heather Hyacinth ($182) – I’ll be honest, I saw a girl walking down the street in this coat and just knew I had to have it. I was delighted that it came in petite, which meant I wouldn’t have to spend money on having the sleeves tailored, and absolutely fell in love with the cut and structure of this jacket. It comes in 6 other fun colors, too! SIZE PURCHASED: 2 PETITE. J.Crew Pocket Chambray Shirt ($45) – A denim button-up has always been a staple in my closet, and for the past 5+ years I’ve had one from Target on repeat. This year I decided it was time to get a new one, so I opted to upgrade to this J.Crew version, and once again was delighted that it came in petite, which meant it fit perfectly in the shoulders and sleeves. SIZE PURCHASED: 2 PETITE.
Victoria’s Secret Angel Max Sports Bra ($40) – I’ll admit that their advertisements for this totally got me. How much more comfortable could it be than any other sports bra? Well, it just is. SIZE PURCHASED: 32B
North Made Felt Letter Sweatshirt ($54) – The one item I knew I wanted to add to my closet this fall was a really traditional crew-neck sweatshirt. I had been on the look-out for a plain one, but when I saw this cute MPLS design from North Made I decided to give it a try. It’s super soft, and the locally-made letters add a unique touch. SIZED PURCHASED: UNISEX SMALL
Teva Willow High-Top Sneakers ($89.99) – Just like this past summer, I’m now on the hunt for fall/winter shoes that are super comfortable for all the walking I do around the city. I wanted to find a cute pair of flat leather boots that I could walk and bike in. I ordered 4 different pairs and these ones were the winners. They remind me a lot of these Via Spiga Slip-On Sneakers that I practically lived in this summer, but in a high-top version that will be perfect for the colder, snowy months. The best thing about these is the butter-soft leather and perfect color! They fit true to size. SIZE PURCHASED: 6.
ON MY WISHLIST –
Wool Baseball Hat ($49.50) – this one is from Banana Republic and I’m not sure that it’s exactly what I’m looking for (or that I could justify spending $50 on a hat), but it’s close. I love having a plain baseball hat to toss on, and love the idea of a wool one for the colder months. I tried this one from Madewell, but hated the shape and found the clasp to be flimsy so I returned it. Still on the hunt!
