Hopefully by now we are all aware of the importance of both protein and collagen in our life. While I have a protein smoothie 3-4 times per week, I also like to make drinks that contain collagen peptides. Collagen peptides have several health benefits, such as boosting the metabolism, helping to increase muscle mass, improving the health of your skin, hair and teeth, reducing joint paint and degradation, supporting the fascial system, and aiding in liver health.
My favorite source of ready-to-drink (or eat) collagen peptides is the Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides powder. While you can stir the flavorless powder into anything, I find that I’m kind of particular about what I enjoy it in. I’ve found that I really enjoy a small amount stirred into greek yogurt, or blended into agua fresca. The recipe below is one I’ve been making non-stop this summer. 10 oz cold water
5 ice cubes
5 whole strawberries
Juice from 1/2 lime or lemon (whatever you have, either is delicious in this recipe!)
1 tbsp local organic honey
1-2 scoops Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides (unflavored) or Vital Proteins Lavender-Lemon Beauty Boost for an extra hit of flavor
Combine in your Nutribullet or blender, blend vigorously, then sip and enjoy!
