It’s starting to get hot, hot, hot and I know you need something cold to refresh your body. Instead of filling up with over-sweetened juices or sodas, try making agua fresca as an alternative. Staying hydrated is the easiest thing you can do to instantly improve your body, mind and skin!
You can make it in large batches to serve all your friends and it only takes a couple of quick steps. There are endless possibilities for this zippy drink (think all the fruits and vegetables), but I decided to go for a super green and classic combination of cucumber and lime. This version includes lots of refreshing mint, but if you want to kick it up a notch, a few slices of jalapeño would make a pretty badass drink too.
Cucumber Lime Agua Fresca
makes 4 drinks
2 large seedless cucumbers, roughly chopped
juice of 4 limes, about 1/2 cup
3/4 cup loose mint leaves, plus more for garnish
Stick the cucumbers, lime juice and mint in a high-speed blender and blend until completely combined, 15-30 seconds. Pour through a fine mesh strainer, really pushing down on the mixture, making sure to squeeze every last bit of liquid out. At first, it will seem slow, but before you know it, you’ll have a lot! Serve over ice and enjoy!
If this combination is a bit tart for you, consider adding a little extra water to the mixture or a squeeze of agave.
