This post is one of my post popular ones (what can I say, the internet is a weird place), so I thought that given the season, I would repost it. See below for a step-by-step guide for creating your own Washi Tape Card Tree:
(Reposted from December 2013) It was early-December when I looked around and realized that we had no decorations. We have never purchased a tree and this year we seemed to always find something better to do besides putting up our outdoor lights…so, needless to say our house didn’t look very festive. I started thinking about where I would even put a tree and then realized I could still create a holiday atmosphere without dragging a fir into the living room. Enter washi tape, stage right.
I created this little tree for hanging cards using washi tape, string, a tinsel garland, tacks, a red glitter star from Target and IKEA Riktig clips ($2.99).
Start by placing the tape on the wall in evenly spaced rows, then alternate string/tinsel on each layer using tacks to hold it in place. I also made little ornaments by putting washi tape on paper and cutting them out in circles. Lastly, add the Riktig Clips (from IKEA) to each layer and wait for the cards to arrive in the mail!
