Today is day 3 of the 21-Page Challenge (curious? learn more and join here! It’s never too late to jump in) and I wanted to share a hot little tip about workout wear.
Listen, this stuff is awesome for everyone. But this post goes out to the short women. The chicks who have an annual tailoring bill pushing 4-figures and who can rarely purchase pants with the proper inseam. This post goes out to you, because I know how real this struggle is, especially when it comes to workout pants (who wants to pay $30 hem something you’re going to sweat in?!).
I want to tell you about the New Balance for J.Crew collection, because I’ve recently fallen in love with it. I don’t love working out, so I totally and completely bribe myself with workout apparel (judge me). This fall I promised myself that if I completed the 12-week Sweat program, I’d purchase a few pieces from the New Balance for J.Crew Collection, and they’ve been my absolute favorites over the past couple of months.
The New Balance for J.Crew High-Waisted Performance Crop Leggings (now on sale for $50!) are the perfect length for my 28″ inseam. They hit just above my ankle and are perfect with sneakers. I got them in navy originally, but couldn’t resist getting a second pair in black after realizing how perfectly they fit. I love the high-waist (so flattering and comfortable when you’re bouncing around in a gym or on a treadmill) and again: this damn inseam! It’s so perfect! That material is also great and I love that they have been easy to wash and care for (I machine wash them on gentle and hang to dry).
I also got the New Balance for J.Crew Performance Crop Top ($65). I love crop tops for working out (either alone or as a sports bra) but have a hard time finding ones that fit properly. I always feel like I have a ton of side-boob showing. Am I alone on that? I love that these ones have reasonable arm-holes (no side-boob!) and a high neckline that keeps you covered when you’re doing burpees (I know we’ve all had that moment where we thought a boob flew out of our tank top. Not with this top!).
I found that this line runs a little small. It’s not uncommon for me to wear XS in Lululemon or Athleta, but the Extra-Smalls in this collection were way too tight for me. Might be the more structured fabric, but I’d recommend sizing up from your typical Lulu/Athleta size.
I also got this New Balance for J.Crew Seamless Snood ($39) which is no longer available in navy, sadly, but is on sale for a steal at $39 and is available in a couple colors. I might have to order it in the gray, too. I just love the fabric, thumb-holes and the snood-style type hood. It’s great for layering under my bike helmet during winter rides!
